ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Instrumentation/Calibration Technician develops tests, calibrates, maintains, repairs and troubleshoots standard measuring and recording instruments/equipment (electrical, mechanical and hydraulic-based) used in the manufacturing processes to ensure conformance to calibration standards. Executes work orders for all instruments, devices and systems in the plant to ensure that all are in a safe and accurate operating condition in accordance to Baxter standards and cGMP.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Calibrates, maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots instrumentation and equipment for laboratory and manufacturing plants to ensure conformance to established calibration standards.
  • Carry out planned or unplanned maintenance and repair activities on a wide range of electronic equipment and process control and safety systems.
  • Consult manufacturers manuals, circuit diagrams and blueprints to determine tests and maintenance procedures for instruments used for measuring and controlling flow, level, pressure, temperature, chemical composition and other variables in manufacturing and processing.
  • Repair and adjust system components, such as sensors, transmitters and programmable logic controllers, or remove and replace defective parts.
  •  Calibrate components and instruments according to manufacturer's specifications.
  • Comply with classifications and prioritization system for completion of work orders following the good documentation practices.
  • Locates, diagnoses and reports problems in instrumentation equipment and systems.
  • Records and communicates detailed instrument calibration information and usage procedures to supervisors or peers.
  • Knowledgeable on chemical processes and equipment
  • Computer Skills (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills
  • Units Conversions & Mathematical Reasoning 
  • Ability to follow written procedures & verbal instructions
  • Ability to understand technical drawings
  • Ability to work extended hours, and 12 hours shifts.

EDUCATIONAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: (Minimum required to perform the job)

  • AD, Instrumentation Technology, and or Electronics.
  • 5-9 years hands on experience as Instrumentation/Calibration Technician with at least 5 years in regulated environment.
  • Fully Bilingual (Spanish/English)
  • Solid writing/documentation skills
