Responsibilities:

  • Handles routine and entry-level labor relations and human resource inquiries related to policies, procedures, and bargaining agreements; refers complex matters to appropriate HR leadership.
  • Serves as the initial contact and liaison for intake and assessment of employee complaints.
  • Assists and audits with recordkeeping related to hiring, termination, leave, transfer, and promotion, mainly as related to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), affirmative action, and diversity initiatives.
  • As assigned, will do assessment and research to support HR Business Partner and leaders' analyses.
  • Will be required to learn applicable labor law to execute role functions. Knowledge in Puerto Rico labor laws is preferred.
  • Assists with preparation of plans, policies, documents, and reports.
  • Knowledge of compensation analyses and processes is preferred.
  • Administer the leave of absences processes and advise employees and internal clients (per delegation of authority). 
  • Professional and discreet communication (both written and verbal; English and Spanish) is required to communicate with employees as well as internal and external clients.
  • Maintains complete and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests by specified legal requirements and documentation of best practices.
  • Preserves confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files.
  • Maintains knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws including the FMLA, ADA, and state and local laws.
Position Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration with mayor in Human Resources or related field; master’s degree in preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in the Human Resources field. Previous experience in an HR Generalist and or Employee Relations role will be preferred. Prior experience managing leave of absences and labor relations cases will be highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal and state labor, wage, and salary laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws.
  • Previous experience within the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Medical Device, Food and Beverage, and Healthcare Industries is highly preferred.
  • Excellent planning and time management skills and meet constant deadlines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) or Office 365.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, in Spanish and English, both orally and in writing (Fully Bilingual). Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Great presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of managing Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and the Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) is highly preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects while remaining flexible to changing priorities.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and directed, with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with flexibility and adaptability.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Available to work extended hours.
